MUTI is an acronym and it reflects our core values as a brand: Modern. Unique. True. Intelligent.
The MUTI headquarter is in Munich. You are welcome to contact us here directly.
Yes. MUTI is entirely “made in Munich” This means that all relevant processes of our brand, from development, production, design, packaging and storage to the team office activities take place in Munich and the surrounding area.
No. We want to combine the best of both worlds in our formulations.
Our principle of “easier, but without compromise” also means that we do not wish to be limited beforehand by regulations in the development of our product formulations, and can therefore retain greater freedom in the decision processes for MUTI product formulas.
That means that our formulations are not only free from ingredients usually found in natural cosmetics, such as essential oils, dehydrating alcohols, animal constituents and fragrances, but also from ingredients of conventional cosmetics, such as silicones, mineral oils, parabens, PEGs and microplastics. We therefore have our own set of rules for creating our highly tolerable unisex essentials.
Yes. However, since 'clean beauty' is a free concept, which is not defined further by law or regulation, what is meant by 'clean' depends on how a brand interprets the word. Likewise, 'clean' cannot be equated with 'vegan', 'not tested on animals' or 'natural cosmetics'. Most brands use it rather to indicate what is not contained in their products.
For MUTI, this means that all of our products are free from ingredients of animal origin, silicones, mineral oils, parabens, paraffins, PEGs, microplastics, essential oils, dehydrating alcohols and fragrances.
You can order our care essentials directly from our online shop . For stationary trade, please click on our store finder.
Yes. MUTI products do not contain any ingredients of animal origin.
No. We do not conduct any animal testing, nor do we instruct third parties to do so. According to the EU Cosmetic Regulation, since 2013 it has no longer been permitted in the EU to sell cosmetics, that have been produced with the help of animal testing.
No. MUTI products do not contain any fragrances or perfume.
In our opinion, adding fragrance to the products contradicts the current scientific standard and offers no real added value for the skin. Furthermore, fragrances and essential oils are thought to be capable of triggering allergic reactions.
The products’ aroma is that of the ingredients and active substances used in them. Because the aroma of several natural active substances such as bromelain or macadamia oil can vary slightly depending on the batch, the aroma of the MUTI products may also vary slightly between batches.
The essential oils that were previously responsible for the fragrance are no longer included in the formula. On the basis of our pledge to constantly improve our products in accordance with the latest scientific findings, we felt that it no longer made sense to add fragrance to the products. With our essentials, we want to offer highly tolerable, unisex products that offer real added value to the skin, and that is why we shall not be adding fragrance to our products in the future.
Unopened cosmetics must have a shelf life of at least 30 months by law.
According to the EU Cosmetic Regulation of 2009, we label the storage life of MUTI products after opening with the help of the jar symbol. The number shown inside the jar symbol indicates the number of months that your MUTI product will last after being opened. For MUTI products, this is usually six months.
The MUTI products in the FACE range are aimed at those aged 25+. From around the mid-twenties, the skin increasingly loses moisture and collagen synthesis becomes steadily slower. That’s why it is important to counteract this with a smart and light form of anti-ageing, in which the skin is supported from the outside, for example with moisturising agents like fragmented hyaluronic acid.
The prefix 'Anti-Age' before the name of our FACE products certainly does not mean an anti-ageing range in the traditional sense, i.e. for mature skin. Instead, we recommend that the skin is nourished and supported even from a young age, in order to attain and maintain a healthy and therefore beautiful appearance of the skin. This is what we want to express with the 'Anti-Age' prefix before the name of the respective FACE cream.
In all our products, we avoid using plumping and effect-imitating substances that have no actual effect, such as mineral oils and silicones. Yet the active ingredients we do use – such as hyaluronic acid and urea – are able to minimise dryness lines within a short time. However, the lastingly visible effect does not usually become apparent until four weeks after the first use, when cell turnover has been able to take place. This is the body's own skin-renewal process, which takes about 28 days.
Yes. A note of caution, however: the word “waterproof” suggests that a sunscreen is able to completely withstand water contact, without any problems. This is not the case. For sunscreens to be declared water-resistant, or – in common parlance – waterproof, they must still have 50% of the indicated SPF after being in contact with water twice for twenty minutes at a time.
Since our SUN range meets these criteria, you can stay in the water for longer after using the SUN products than with non-water-resistant products. However, since the SPF can be further impaired by perspiration and drying with a towel, we always recommend reapplying the SUN products after these activities.
We use modern chemical filters for the SUN range. These products do not contain nanoparticles or filters that are harmful for people and the environment, such as octocrylene, oxybenzone, octinoxate and homosalate.
All our SUN products use a combination of the following chemical filters:
Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate (Uvinul A Plus)
Ethylhexyl Salicylate (Neo Heliopan OS)
Ethylhexyl Triazone (Uvinul T 150)
Phenylbenzimidazole Sulfonic Acid (Eusolex232)
We chose these filters because they have been proven harmless. We achieve comprehensive UVA, UVB and infrared protection with our products. The infrared active complex made from vitamins C, E and B3 offers comprehensive protection against free radicals. These filters also have low allergenic potential and no hormonal effects; they do not accumulate in the body or disrupt metabolic processes, and are photostable and ocean-friendly.
The SPF 50 products have a UVA-PF/PPD value of about 22.5, and thus block 95.56% of UVA radiation. For SPF 30 products it is about 17.2, thus blocking about 94.19% of UVA rays.
According to the EU recommendation, the UVA protection (PPD value) should correspond to at least one third of the UVB protection, for an SPF 30 this would correspond to a PPD value of 10. A PPD value of 10 blocks 90 percent of UVA radiation.
Our products are unisex care products, but they have not been specially developed for children's skin. Compatibility is particularly important to us. We therefore make a point of avoiding parabens, silicones, mineral oils, PEGs, perfume, essential oils, dehydrating alcohols and ingredients of animal origin.
MUTI SUN FACE products protect particularly sensitive skin against UVA/UVB and infrared radiation. And, with their fragmented hyaluronic acid, they also supply your skin with sufficient moisture. These highly effective active ingredients have been specially developed for adult skin and are therefore not necessarily suitable for children.
Yes, the vast majority of MUTI products can be used during pregnancy, with the exception of ANTI-AGE NIGHT CREAM PLUS. This is because its active ingredient is retinol, which should be avoided during pregnancy.
